Reflections on trying to keep up. A poem.

In this ever changing world in which we live it's not always easy to keep up, no matter how hard we try. It seems like only last week that it was all about, "Murdoch-the cancer in our society". Just a minute, it was last week. Now it's all "London's Burning" and "will a bunch of brutal thugs rule our streets?" Well, not unless we increase budgets and give them water cannon apparently.

Last week the met was a corrupt and rotten and needed change. This week they're save us from our children when they exercise they're unaffordable rights as consumers I was in my old neighbourhood in west london today. A shoe shop had been looted andsome windows smashed in. It was only yards away from where where I was standing in 1976 when the riots kicked off then. Speaking to people in the area the consensus was" our kids have nothing, they treat us like shit," "if you're from round here you must have a problem thetefore you're unemployable" etc. Its just kicked off in Acton someone tells me.
I'm sitting im the Prince Albert having a pint with my lovely
partner. She has just reminded me we were sat here post
riot in1976. She also says that's the carnival and olympics fucked. The tension here is amazing as soon as a police siren goes off funk come.
